Climate Resilience Awareness Programmes Successfully Conducted in Anuradhapura District

Awareness programmes on Climate-Resilient Chilli and Watermelon Cultivation were successfully conducted on 12th and 13th February 2026 for selected beneficiaries in the Anuradhapura District.

The sessions were organized for:
πŸ“ Chilli farmers from Mahaehetuwewa GND (NPC DS Division)
πŸ“ Watermelon farmers from Sandamaleliya and Thuppitiyawa GNDs (Mahavilachchiya DS Division)

The programme was led by the Agriculture and Livestock Specialist, who shared valuable insights drawn from years of practical field experience. Farmers were guided on:

βœ… Increasing profits with limited resources
βœ… Reducing production costs
βœ… Strengthening financial management skills

The expected project benefits and recommended cultivation practices were clearly explained to ensure improved outcomes for farming families. In addition, the input package and technical support provided by SARP were introduced to beneficiaries to ensure smooth and successful implementation.

Government officers also actively participated throughout the sessions, strengthening collaboration and community engagement.
