As part of its mission to enhance food security and reduce poverty, the Smallholder Agribusiness and Resilience Project (SARP) has been actively supporting inland fisheries programs across its project areas. Over the past three years, one of the key initiatives has been the stocking of fingerlings and prawn larvae in local tanks. Under this initiative, Rohu and several other varieties of inland fish have already been stocked in selected tanks, with plans underway to expand stocking efforts further. This program is being carried out with the support of the National Aquatic Resources Development Authority (NAQDA) of Sri Lanka. In addition, SARP has provided training to beneficiaries on fish preservation techniques and has encouraged them to engage in value-added fish production activities.
