As part of strengthening supervision and ensuring effective implementation of the Smallholder Agribusiness and Resilience Project (SARP), an Implementation Support Mission is being conducted from 15 to 26 September 2025.
A delegation from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) recently undertook a field visit to assess the progress of ongoing project activities and provide technical guidance for continued improvement.
Field Observations Across Key Districts
From 18 to 20 September, the mission team conducted field observations in the districts of:
-
Anuradhapura District
-
Vavuniya District
-
Kurunegala District
During these visits, the delegation reviewed the implementation status of various field-level interventions, including livelihood support activities, infrastructure development, and community-based initiatives.
Engagement with Beneficiaries
A key highlight of the mission was the direct interaction with beneficiaries. The delegation engaged in open discussions with farmers, women entrepreneurs, and community members to understand:
-
The practical impact of project interventions
-
Progress achieved at the grassroots level
-
Challenges encountered during implementation
-
Opportunities for further strengthening outcomes
These discussions provided valuable insights into how SARP interventions are contributing to improved livelihoods, enhanced resilience, and strengthened agribusiness development in rural communities.
