Mr. Monty Ranathunga officially assumed duties as the new Project Director of the Smallholder Agribusiness and Resilience Project (SARP) on 18 July 2025.
A distinguished public servant, Mr. Ranathunga is a retired senior officer of the Sri Lanka Planning Service, with an accomplished career spanning several decades in national development and public administration. Among his many notable appointments, he served as the Ministry of Transport, where he played a key role in policy coordination and strategic planning. He has also held several senior executive-grade positions across the public sector.
With extensive expertise in development planning, large-scale project implementation, and institutional leadership, Mr. Ranathunga is well positioned to guide SARP into its next phase of impact. His experience is expected to further strengthen the project’s strategic direction, governance standards, and results-oriented implementation.
The Smallholder Agribusiness and Resilience Project (SARP) continues to focus on empowering smallholder farmers, enhancing climate resilience, and promoting inclusive agribusiness development across its operational regions. Under Mr. Ranathunga’s leadership, the project aims to deepen its contribution to rural livelihoods, food security, and sustainable economic growth.
