SARP Signs First 4P Agreement for Sweetcorn Project

The first agreement signing under the 4P (Public–Private–Producer Partnership) component of the Smallholder Agribusiness and Resilience Project (SARP) was successfully held today at the Ministry of Agriculture.

This milestone marks a significant step forward in strengthening collaborative agribusiness development under the project framework.

Formalizing the Sweetcorn Partnership

On behalf of SARP, the agreement for the Sweetcorn Project was signed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, who also serves as the Chairman of the National Steering Committee (NSC).

Representing Richmark Holdings, the agreement was signed by Mr. Chandana Ganegoda, Chairman of the company.

The partnership aims to integrate smallholder farmers into a structured sweetcorn value chain, ensuring:

  • Access to quality inputs and technical guidance

  • Assured market linkages

  • Improved income opportunities for producers

  • Strengthened public–private collaboration

Participation of Key Stakeholders

The signing ceremony was attended by the Project Director of SARP, the Director (Development) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation (MOALLI), the Head of Value Chain Development of SARP, the Agribusiness Development Specialist, and representatives from Richmark Holdings.
