Under the SARP Youth Agribusiness Programme, Mrs. S.K. Deepika Damayanthi, the owner of Keyara Farm in Kobeyigane, Mawathagama, was selected as a young entrepreneur after submitting her project proposal. Financial assistance under the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme of the project was awarded to her under the patronage of government officials and local public representatives.
At the initial stage, the enterprise operated with 1,000 animals and functioned without a business name or formal registration. Through the intervention and support of the SARP project, the business has now been officially established under the name “Keyara Farm,” with proper registration and environmental licensing. The operation has expanded threefold to 3,000 animals, a storage facility has been developed, and three employees have been recruited.
This stands as a significant achievement of the project.
