With the growing demand for locally produced milk, the SARP Project, in collaboration with Pelwatte Dairy and Richlife Dairy, continues to strengthen and support local dairy farmers through the 4P (Public–Private–Producer Partnership) approach.
As part of this initiative, a Farmer Awareness Programme was conducted to educate and guide dairy farmers on the opportunities and support available under the project. Through this partnership model, SARP and the respective private dairy companies provide technical guidance, capacity building, and investment support, while the private companies ensure a reliable market by purchasing the milk produced by registered farmers.
The session was facilitated by the Livestock Development Instructor (LDI – DAPH) together with the Pelwatte Dairy Area Coordinator. The programme covered:
Introduction to the 4P project objectives
Resilient dairy development support and investment opportunities
Farmer registration process with DAPH
Importance of proper record keeping for sustainable dairy farming
This programme is being implemented across all six districts under the SARP Project, aiming to build a resilient dairy sector, strengthen local milk supply, and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
🌱 Together, we are fostering a sustainable and resilient dairy industry for the future.
